Lowest common multiple

L.I: Is to find the lowest common multiple

This week for maths we were learning how to find the lowest common multiple. We first learnt by doing 1 digit by 1 digit and started moving on to even harder questions. This activity was fun because we got to work in a group. The people in my group were Matthew, Giovanni and Ong. The lowest common multiple is when the 2 numbers have the same multiple, that is the lowest. For an example 8 and 6, we know that 8 x 3 and 6 x 4 equals 24 and nothing is lower than 24. To find the lowest common multiple, the easiest way to do so, is to multiply both numbers. If we were to find the lowest common multiple of 4 and 5. We multiply both numbers, which makes 20. There are no lower common multiples than 20. This is a strategy we all found out, from doing the first 3 questions.

Law of Inertia

L.I: To create a DLO that explains the Law of Inertia.

This week for Reading we have created a collaborative DLO explaining what the law of inertia is. Who creator of the law of inertia was Issac Newton. Isaac Newton was born january the 4th 1643, he died on the  31st march 1727. There are three laws of Inertia if an object stays in rest or stays at a constant speed this motion will keep on going until unless some type of pull of force stops the object or moves it. We did this in groups I was with Leroy, Fau, Ellenora and Matthew.

Why it is important to make wise choices

Why is it important to make wise choices?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Did you know when you litter around the sea, plastic is going to the ocean and creates pollution in the sea? Due to our careless actions these marine animals have been suffering from plastic, most of the time they mistake plastic for their lunch as a result the marine animals will start to get sick or most of the time even die. Most of the plastic that ends up on our grounds then goes into the drains, which then drifts slowly to our oceans, lakes and rivers. Every day around 8 million pieces of plastic makes their way into our oceans.

Would you like to be a sea animal tangled in plastic and not be able to digest food? Plastic doesn’t actually fully degrade, it only disintegrates into smaller particles. There are now 5.25 trillion micro and macro pieces of plastic in our ocean, and 46 thousand pieces in every square mile of ocean weighs around 269 thousand tonnes. About 252,000 tons of plastic are also headed into our landfills every year. The more people fill the ocean with plastic, the less marine animals we’ll have. The generation of sea animals will be gone and the ocean will be filled with plastic rubbish. You can help stop this by collecting all the plastic you see laying around. Different different things that are affected by the pollution are Global Warming, Climate Change, Acid Rain, Smog effect, Deterioration of fields, Extinction of animal species and Respiratory health problems.

What would you do if you saw a marine animal with plastic in its throat or plastic stuck around its neck which stops it from eating. There are seven different types of pollution: air, water, land, radioactive, thermal, light, and sound pollution. Because of our selfish ways the marine animals in our ocean will soon be extinct like the dinosaurs if we don’t do something about the pollution in our waterways. 700 marine species are affected by the damage caused by plastic pollution. A way we can stop this problem is by picking up rubbish whenever you can. Pollution also affects the marine ecosystems which is pretty bad.

Another We can help get rid of this problem by picking up rubbish even if it isn’t yours to save animals and the environment then maybe we can keep the marine animals safe and healthy, but if you don’t the marine animals in our oceans they will die.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

L.I: To simply write an explanation.

This week for writing we created a explanation about any topic. The topic that I chose to make an explanation out of was pollution. Pollution is a big disaster which is causing the marine species to get lower and lower, and it needs to stop. I liked to make this explanation because pollution was a fun write about. My explanation explains why it is important to make wise choices.

DARE to make a choice

LI: to learn more about the dangers of Drugs and Alcohol.

As we continue with the DARE Program we have gone more in depth about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. We started off by trying to identify if some drugs are Illegal or Legal. We then later ranked them in Harmful to Most Harmful. After we talked about the classifications of drugs and the consequences and risks of being in possession or manufacturing the drugs. After we looked at some scenarios and tried to find out the penalties and consequences of the actions they have done. The DLO we’ve made showcases the learning we have looked at and we have discuss what we learnt.

Food Technology

L.I: To follow a recipe to make corn fritters.

L.I: To find out the facts about New Zealand places.

This week for maori language week we found out interesting facts about the city's in New Zealand. The city's that we chose for our map Hamilton, Auckland and more. We worked in groups of 3 to finish of this task since we wanted to get work done quickly. The thing that i liked about this task is that i got to learn  new things while researching about these city's.

Whakatauki/Proverbs

Whakatauki means proverbs, for this DLO we picked a proverb and explained the meaning and the lessons we can learn from it. The proverb we picked was a day of hard work which means how hard you work in one day. I created this DLO with Matthew and Jayden.

Tuakana Teina

This week LS2 helped room 1 and 2 with there art which was really fun. The first thing that we were doing was practising our patterns to put on our portraits. We thought about different things that could be related to Maori which we thought was like animals different type of patterns and more. This was fun because we got to help the younger kids of Panmure Bridge School do some fun art.

History

L.I: Is to understand the history behind Maori language week

This week is Te wiki o te Reo Maori so the whole of this week we have been creating DLO'S. In this DLO we wrote about what Maori Language week is and why te reo is important. Matthew and I worked together to complete this DLO. Te Wiki o te Reo Maori is a week where Kiwi's or New Zealanders try and speak some Te Reo when more then usual. This DLO was fun because we got to draw the photo in the middle of the DLO.

App

L.I: Is to make an app that is based on maroi language week.

This week in New Zealand is maori language week which we celebrated with making an app and doing other challenges. This app is based on maori question  which consists of naming foods, the time, months and NZ place names. We worked in groups for this since apps take a long time to process. We ended up learning all these words by searching them up on the maori dictionary which has really good since we don't know that much maori. The thing that I liked about this task was how we got to make it super efficient.

It's Cool 2b me

This week we filled in a DLO about ourselves. It is about your goals, who you want to be when you grow up, things you like doing, your best friends, favorite foods, great things about me, your wish, and qualities you look for in friends. I like this DLO, because people can look at it and learn about me, and what I look for in friends. This was so fun. I hope people will know me more better.

M.R.S C .G.R.E.N

L.I: To understand the meaning behind the acronym MRSCGREN

Our body's has a lot of qualities and different features. This week we were learning about the qualities of different living things which is MRS C GREN. This means Movement, Respiration, sensitivity, cell, growth, reproduction, excretion and nutrients. We had to explain the meaning of these different words and explain how the process works with living things. The thing that I liked about this task was how I got work in a group with my friends instead of explaining all those words.

Footprint Observations

Learning Intention: To make observations about Footprints.

This week for science, we were learning about observations, and observations are watching the behavior  . We decided to try to guess what happened by reading pictures, or trying to guess what happened by looking at the pictures. We had three different observations to guess. The first one had big prints, and little prints next to each other. We thought and guessed that it was a mother and it's baby. The second one had two different prints, crossing over each other, and the all going around in a circle. We thought they were fighting, or making a home. When we finished and all agreed it was a fight, because because only the big tracks were coming out, and not the little ones. The last one had the same except they both went into a circle, but didn't leave.

Sunflower Paintings

L.I: To paint a still life photo

last week for art we were creating some flowers in a vase. We were painting these flowers because of a famous post impressionist, and his name was Vincent Van Gogh. Something that I really liked doing this fun activity was that we got to mix the colours to make them lighter and how we needed to use different skills.

The main ingredients in the fired rice that we used were sweet chilli sauce, soy sauce, chicken breast, carrots, roasted pepper, onions and rice. We started by cutting the onions, and grating the carrots, and cutting the chicken breasts. We also cut the roasted peppers. We then put all the cut up ingredients in the pot and started to stir it. We then added the soy sauce and the sweet chili sauce. After we finished cooking the fried rice we were washing and drying the dishes with our partner.

Vincent Van Gogh Timeline

L.I: To create a Timeline about Vincent Van Gogh.

Made with Padlet

This week we were working collaboratively to create a timeline on padlet about the Post Impressionist by the name of Vincent Van Gogh. This Padlet timeline about Vincent Van Gogh is about the events that happened in Vincent Van Gogh's life. Vincent Van Gogh was a artist who was apart of the impressionist movement which meant that he liked to paint still life paintings that captured a moment in time. Something I found interesting was that he only sold two paintings as a art dealer.
