L.I: To collect materials needed to successfully complete our weekly superpower building missions with Nano Girl.

This week we started the day by working with the year 4's from Room 5 complete their first Summer Learning Journey activities. We worked in groups so it would help us think of different ideas. I found this activity fun because I got to help a younger student complete the first SLJ activity.

Operation Christmas Drop

L.I: To write a summary of the story behind the Operation Christmas Drop in your own words.

For the last 68 years the men and women of the US air force who are based at Andersen Air force Base in Guam. The Anderson Air force have been piloting planes which drop supplies for 60 remote island where people don't have much things. In my opinion I think the idea of Operation Christmas Drop is good because it helps people who don't have lots of supplies can stock up for a bit, give people hope and brings each other in the community together. I really liked learning about this because it reminded me that some people are less fortunate then I am. Something interesting that I found out was that the crates that they drop off the plane weighs around 180kg which is a lot.

Food Technology

L.I: To follow instructions to make sushi.

This week we had our last Tech session for 2020, and we made sushi for our last tech session. The ingredients were Rice, Nori Sheets, Chicken, Yellow Capsicum, Sweet Chilli Sauce, and Mayo. first, we had to shred the chicken, then add Sweet Chilli Sauce, along with the Mayo. This keeps the chicken moist. Next we banged the rice to make it soft, then got our Nori sheet, and put it onto the sushi wooden roller. Next, we put the rice onto the Nori sheet, using water on our hands, so the rice doesn't stick to your hands. You had to fill up 2/3 of the Nori sheet with rice. Then after that, we put the chicken at the end of the rice on the Nori. And then you roll it up using the wooden roller to help make a perfect circle. Lastly you had to cut that roll up into 8 pieces. This session was amazing because I got to make some yummy food.

Art Colouring Book

 L.I: To experiment with colours.

This Morning we started the day with one of this years Summer Learning Journey activities. The purpose of this task was to experiment with different colours from the original painting palette by using pop colours. This allowed us to recolour famous paintings or images of landmarks around the world. The painting that I chose to repaint with my own colours was a woman combing her hair. This painting was made by Goyō Hashiguchi. I enjoyed this activity because I got to be creative.

Provocation: Should masks be compulsory

LI: To identify and consider the two perspectives of this provocation to help me form an opinion

This week for Reading we were learning about Provocations. A Provocation is an action or phrase that triggers strong emotions. Our provocation was "Should masks be compulsory in Auckland public transport?". In our DLO (Digital Learning Object) we had to say if we agree or not with the provocation, and then share our opinion. My opinion is that I think we should have a free choice on rather or not we want to wear masks. Some people have not too good health and would have trouble breathing.

Charge of the light brigade

L.I: To have a clear understanding of what happened in the Crimean war.

This week for reading we were learning about the famous war that happened in crimean. This DLO represents the story behind the war and facts about it. We had to work in groups of 3 which then could make us feel more confident when making this and give feedback to each other. The thing that we really liked about this task is how we got to find out interesting things about the war and the people in it. 600 men were in the war and less than 200 people survived. This DLO can give other people a clear picture on what happened, where it happened and more.

Weight Challenge

L.I: To create a DLO about any of the Weighty Maths Challenges.

This week we were put into groups for math in these groups we made up names that  represent maths or includes maths names, our name that we chose for our group was The multiplying 7’s because we had seven people in our group and we were supposed to multiply our questions we were given. In the multiplying 7’s were Victoria our leader Giovanni, Makaili, Afa, Ong, Lily and I. We put all of our opinions together to come with different solutions to solve our challenges and we would have to ask questions if we didn't understand the question or ask for help because no one should have sat in silence because we are a team and we are all  supposed participate so we all can have friendship even though we haven't worked together but we did make a big difference and we worked as a good team whether we liked  working together or not. Something that I enjoyed about this activity was that I got to work with people I haven't worked with a lot.
