Matariki Challenge 2

 L.I: To explain in fewer words what Matariki is about?



For the second Matariki Challenge we made a summary about Matariki. This summary was about who the stars were and when the Matariki stars come out. This DLO was made by the same group as the first one. We worked together for all of the activities. This activity was fun to do because I got to look for the words which helped us get the task done faster.

TOW collaborative summary

For reading we read a text about the history of Waitangi. We read the text and we created a DLO about the text. We chose 20 important words about the topic and chose 6 of them for the most important words. After that we used those 6 words to create a small paragraph or summary. This activity was cool and interesting to learn about.

Reading Presentation

This week we were in partners and presented a DLO about the history topic. My partner was Jayden and we were made a DLO and a Kahoot about our topic the Stone age. First we had to write the important words down in our writing book, then we made a interactive activity on kahoot. Jayden and I made ten questions for LS2 to answer. Once we made our Kahoot we made a DLO for our introduction, and we presented it.

Waltzing Matilda poem

Today this week we unpacked the literary devices and language in banjo Paterson's very famous poem called Waltzing Matilda. Some of these words mean something but said in a different way than others say it, for example Swag man is a seasonal worker, Jumbuck is a sheep. The poem is telling us how hard it was years ago in Australia. The Swag man would rather jump into the water hole then spend his life in prison.
