Kiwi Sport reflection - Cricket

This week we had our first session of our Kiwi Sport for 2020. The name of our coach that we have is Brian, and he is from the HPPC. There were two different things we did, and first was batting so groups of four or five and someone all the batters hit balls then fielding team ran to the field after the last ball was hit. Batters ran back and forth, and they counted their runs. The fielders had to get all the balls back to where they were hit the highest was 20. The second one was bowling we had to hit the wicket with the ball. and put the cones in the wicket.

The person with the noodles stand on the outer side of the class and the people with the gloves had to stand on the other side of the person with the noodles. We were recapping on our counter moves. we had 2 minutes to do each counter move The first one was the jab cross guard right upper cut left hook, Then the second one was jab jab cross bridge left hook. The last one I forgot what it was.

Boxing

LI: To learn how use footwork and learn new hand moves.
On Thursday morning we had a boxing season and it was our second one. So we first started by siting down on the floor in the school hall then we went over the rules at boxing after that we had to wear our gloves then wear our boxing gloves after that we had to get into partners and then name our self partner one and partner two I was partner two after we did that we went over the rock position again and the jab and cross punch. After that we one partner had to put there left hand our right hand up and the other partner had to punch it by doing the jab or cross.

Next we learned how to use our left hook and right hook it was similar to a cross but I bit different after that we learned how to do a proper up a cut to learn how to do that one partner had to put both hands horizontally. The other partner had to do a uppercut to the glove. Then we learned how to do foot work and they first taught us how to move froward while doing the rock. How you do it is to put your right leg forward and your left leg behind it then we learned how to move backwards while doing the rock and that is to put your left leg back then your right leg back then after that we got back into partners.

We had to say to each other what to do my partner started first and I told him to move back forward then back again then forward again after that we did combos one of them was Jab,Cross,Right hook, left hook, Left up a cut and right uppercut. The combos we had to do were pretty Confusing to remember.

Boxing

This week for kiwi sport we had our first lesson with Pax. First Pax taught us three of the commandments which was Respect, Discipline & Safety. For respect we had to say I will respect my coach, equipment and peers. For discipline we had to say I will show up in every kiwi sport and I will give my 100%. Lastly for Safety we had to say I will not harm others and I will practise boxing with safety. If we broke one of the rules we had to do one burpee for the first week, if we break it again we have to do two burpees, it goes on and on. If we did the boxing skills that we learnt outside of the hall we will have to sit in the corner.

After that we did a warm up. We played a game called knee tag. For knee tag we had to try and tag each others knees. Everyone was in. I didn't get tagged by the knee because I defended myself from other people tagging me Once we did the warm up, we had to wear boxing gloves under 90 seconds. The boxing gloves were hard to wear.

Some of us didn't wear the boxing gloves under 90 seconds, so we all had to do a burpee. After the burpee we got into partners. My partner was Giovanni. After that we learnt the rock. For the rock we had to lift up our right leg, move it back and place it down. We also had to bend our knees and we had to put the boxing gloves on our face, but under our eyes. Then one of us had to push the other person who was in the rock. We did that to see if we would fall.

Once we did that we learnt the jab. For the jab we had to get into our rock position. Then we had to punch straight with our left arm, while our right arm was under our eye to keep us safe from a punch.

Swimming

LI: To learn how to swim.
This week for swimming we had to go our instructor. First we got into the pool. Then we swam to the other side using the boards. We did this two times. After we swam using the boards, we did the same thing. This time when we swam on our fronts and we had to breathe, we had to turn around on our backs and swim. We did this this a couple times.

Once we did that we did the same thing again, but we couldn't use our boards. Once we did that we had to catch toys. The toys had to sink first, then we could go down and catch it. We did that two times.  After that we did a horse race. For the horse race we had to get into partners. my partner was Jordan.

After that we got a pool noodle for the both of us. One of us had to curve the pool noodle and had to put our arms over it. The other person had to hold the end of the pool noodle with our hands. The person in the front had to run and the person at the back had to kick their legs to try and win. We came last but we didn't care because it was just a game.

On Wednesday afternoon group A and group B got to do a kiwi sport follow up with our kiwi can teachers. We first started by wearing our belts and tags then we played a game of octopus but in this game when one of your tag get ripped off you will have one more turn until your other tag gets ripped. When both tags get ripped you can move around and get the other peoples tag. Then we got into groups one group was runing and trying to get a try and one group has to defend there area then they have to swap doing it so the other group is defending and our group is runing. on Thursday This week for kiwi sport we started off by playing a game of octopus. But in this octopus game the people in the middle had to rip your tag off your belt then we had to get into teams and two teams would vs each other on the game of octopus. Then we played a game of rippa rugby in this game of rippa rugby forward passes are allowed but off sides are not allow team two was versing team four and team one was versing team three. Then the other group had to get green rippers. After that we played a game to include our passing and not bunching together because the other team might catch the ball and score. We needed to spread out in order for us to get the ball and pass it to our team and they can score.

Kiwi sport

This week we had Rippa rugby outside on the court with Haymish. First we had to get a belt and two tags to put on the sides of our belts. Once we did that we played a game called everybody's it. For everybody's it all of us had to try and steal the tags off other peoples belts. Once we steal it we had to put it on our belts. If both of our tags were gone we had to steal it from other people. We couldn't play hard on each there. Once we finished playing this game we played another game called rat and rabbits. We all had to face our partners and make a line. Instead of Haymish calling out rats and rabbits we played colours. One line was the colour orange and the other was the colour yellow. We still had our belts and tags on. Haymish had to say orange or yellow. If Haymish said orange, the orange team had to face the other way around and go to the cones that was near the hoop. The other team had to try and get the other teams tags before they go to the cones. Once we played this game we played Rippa rush, For Rippa rush Haymish chose 2 people to be in. He chose Sione T and Victoria. For this game the rest of us had to try and get to the other side. The taggers had to try and steal the other peoples tags off. If Haymish said people who are wearing shoes people who were wearing shoes had to run to the other side. When we finished playing this activity we played the last activity. For this activity Haymish put us into 3 equal teams. 1 team had to sit and watch the other teams play. One team had to wear bibs. One team had the ball. They had to try and get it to the other side. I kept intercepting by jumping up and scoring a goal.

Today for kiwi sport we played a game we had to pick a partner and we had to name them 1 or 2 and then the people who were named 1  they were the bib team and the other team was the non bib team the first game we played was everybody's it and we had to tag  the other team and they had to tag us and say if the bibs got every non bib out they would have to turn on each other. If you tag someone at the same time you had to do rock, paper, scissors shoot, Whoever lost had to sit down. Once we finished playing this game we played another game. For this game the non bibs was the taggers. The taggers had 2 balls. They had to try and tag the non bibs with the ball. The person with the ball couldn't move, so they had to pass the ball to one of their team members. People who got tagged by the ball had to go to Mr. Ogilvie. The non bibs had to try and get lots of people out in 2 minutes. The non bibs got 3 people out in 2 minutes. For the next round it was the bibs turn to try and get lots of people out. We got 7 people in 2 minutes. When we finished  When we finished playing this game we had to get into 2 lines. 1 line was the non bibs and the other line was the bibs. Each team had 2 balls. We had to pass the ball to each other and try to get it to a bib that was on the ground. We could only pass the ball backwards. We spread out to put the ball on the bib. Once we put the ball on the bib we had to sit down to see who won. We had fun learning stuff about rippa rugby.

Kiwisport

L.I to learn how to hit from a pitch.
Today for kiwi sport we had Ash again. We played scatter ball but Ash threw the balls to us and we had to bat it. If we kept missing the ball Ash will let us bat from the T. We split up into fielders and batters. I was a batter, I remembered the skills that you need to do while batting. So your feet has to be shoulder width apart, and your small knuckles has to be aligned, the bat on your shoulder, and also elbows up. Then when everyone had a turn batting we swap. When we bat and we run around the bases if you don't make it you stay at the base you are on then you wait for the other person to come so you can run and if you still don't make it your out.

For the first activity we played scatter ball. First we got split up into 2 groups. My team was the fielders and the other team was the batters. Then we swapped sides, the batters became fielders and the fielders became batters. The fielders had to try and catch the ball with their softball glove. If the fielders catched the ball on the foul the person who hit the ball would be out.

This week for kiwi sport we learnt a new skill it was called the backhand lift because last week we did the front hand lift. The person who taught us was Kevin he said we had to put the leg that we hit the shuttle with the racket and then you bend the hand that has the racket and then hit the shuttle from the front of the you court to the back of the opponents court.
