Tech
This week for Tech we coded our Mbot to do a less complicated version of the figure 8 symbol with Mrs Ferguson. The blocks we used were the main blocks, the forever block, the if then else and custom blocks that we made, But before we could use the custom blocks we needed to put the definition block with the name of the custom block on it , and put blocks that meant what we wanted the custom block to do. This week was fun and boring because we already did the figure 8 symbol before.

Dance Class #1
L.I: To use our body to move around or dance.
This week we had our first dance session with our dance teacher Mrs Rebecca. Our theme this week was Me and my body. We started by doing a warm up we were doing star jumps and then we were hopping around in a big circle. We learnt that dancing is expressive, it includes movements, creativity and that when you are dancing you can move freely because you can't make mistakes when you dance. This was fun because we could be creative.

Life Education
This week the Life Education caravan came to our school and Nichole told us about our brain. First we watched about Kapi and how is four walls of Hauora were falling apart. We also found out that our brain thinks 70,000 thoughts everyday and that we are born with 100 billion brain cells. I didn't know about these interesting facts until we watched the video about our brain. My favourite part of talking with Nichole was talking to Harold because he made all of us laugh.

What is Science?
L.I To summarise the information.
L.I: to find the most vital ideas from the information to help us answer the question what is science.
This week for reading we have been learning about what science is. We started off with writing down what we already knew about science on sticky notes, then we watched a video to find out more. While watching the video we used the sticky notes to make notes. The video explains the areas of science, the difference between basic science and applied science. One thing we found really interesting was that you use chemistry, physics, and biology when you make a lime juice from fresh limes.
We negotiated and shared ideas to create a summary, we used the sticky notes to create sentences for the summary. Our group worked collaboratively to get these activities completed. We enjoyed doing this activity as we were able to practise negotiating and taking time to respect everybody's ideas. We have summarised our learning below.
Science is about getting knowledge from asking questions . It is divided into 3 areas: Chemistry, Physics and Biology. Science is both basic and applied, basic science using what you know. Science is either beneficial or harmful depending on how you view and use it.
Questions we want to ask:
Where can science be used?
Why is science important to our world ?
When do scientists ask questions?
