Kelly Tarltons

For another one of the home learning activities. This one is about a place in Auckland called Kelly Tarltons. I worked with Matthew and Afa for this activity. The first activity was about how much it would cost for our whole family to go It would cost $159 for my whole family to go. The second activity was an info-graphic about one of the sea animals at the aquarium we chose a Seahorse, and the last activity was about the opening hours and the ticket prices

Leaf art

For the home learning we had to use our creativity to make an animal out of leaves that we could find around our house.I chose to do a Giraffe because it was the first animal that came to my head. This activity was fun to do because I got creative and was able to make it using different types of leaves. Three fact about Giraffes below.

  • A group of Giraffes is called a Tower.
  • Giraffes spend most of their lives standing up even when giving birth and sleeping.
  • Their legs are taller than many humans.

Skyline Luge

For one of the home learning activities we had to complete a few activities that were given to us from what other people made if we went into lock-down which we did. This DLO is about the skyline Luge in Rotorua. The first activity was about why we should wear helmets and what would happen if we didn't wear a helmet. The second activity was about what activities I would go on and the price for your whole family to go on all the rides. The last activity was about the distance from Auckland to Rotorua the time to get there on a plane, and the time to get there in a car.

Kiwi Can Reflection (Term 1/ Week 7)

This week for kiwi Can we were learning about role models. Role models are people who inspire you and someone you can look up to. We started off with our energizer called hammer. It was related to the topic because we were trying to work together and trying to listen. Next we talked about who role models are in our lives and how they are role models. Most people chose their mum. After we talked about who inspires you in your family. Then we played our activity called picture it. It was related to the topic because it was about working together as a team to make the picture right. Lastly we played a GKQ (General Knowledge Questions) game called end of the road. It was girls vs boys. The goal was to try to answer the question. When the last person gets out, their team loses. It was fun today at Kiwi Can.

Tech

This week for tech everyone went tamaki college. The year 8's are finishing off their pewter casting and trying to make it to a completed mirror finish. So we have to make the casting so that we can see our face but it might not look like a perfect reflection of yourself. This tech term has been fun because it is easy, and has fun steps to go through to get the finishing product.

Explorer vs Adventurer

This week for inquiry we made a Venn Diagram about different type of people who are explorers and adventurers. If they were both  an explorer and adventurer. The people that I knew about were the people the whole class have researched about.

Exploring Provocation

L.I To consider two side of a provocation.

This week we have been exploring two sides of a provocation. A provocation is an action or speech that triggers emotions or feelings. Our provocation is that if NZ should be a cashless society. After considering both perspectives we think that we should not do this because people might need the money to survive, like what if they only have 20 dollars on there card.

Places named by early explorers

This week we have created google maps putting  the places that Abel Tasman, Kupe, and James Cook that were named after them. We completed this in pairs, and my partner was Taheesha. We searched up to help us find more places. Places named by the explorers are names that have special meanings.

I chose to do this because I like to play PlayStation especially PlayStation 4. Giovanni is the only year 8 that is able to pour the pewter metal into his design that he cut out. He chose to do a car for his uncle.
