Careers: Software Developer

L.I: To explore a career that interests me.

I took a Career Quest quiz to help me find a career that interests me. At the end the three options I chose were Game Developer, Software Developer and a Chef. This DLO shows the pay of the job, the skills and knowledge you need for the job, the training length, the working conditions, What you will do and the job opportunities of getting the job.

What is a periscope

L.I: To understand how a periscope works.

For the second inquiry task we worked with the same people as the first one but in this task we needed to explain what a periscope was. We did this task because Mr Johnston came to our class and told us some information about periscopes.Mr Johnston told us that  the angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection, and that means that when light hits a mirror at a 45 degree angle and then reflects, as that same light reflects back on another mirror at a 45 degree angle. This task was fun to complete.

Facts about light

L.I: To write four or five facts about what light is.

This week for inquiry we made a DLO about light. this was one of our inquiry tasks we were tasked to work in partners but the twist was that we needed to choose a partner that we hadn't normally worked with. In this DLO we wrote five interesting facts. This activity was easy to do because we had a few facts that we use that were on the board.

Tech (Robotics) T2W10

L.I: To use the infrared sensors to follow the lines.

This week for Tech we had a little revision about binary which was what we did last week. Our task was to make our M bot move in a figure 8 on a black line. Our revision was the binary work we were doing last week, binary is how robots and computers work. First we started by making sure our M bots were working properly. Then we were making sure our code was correct, but we kept going back and forth so like trial and error. Tech this week was fun to do.

Respected Leader C.A.R.E Award

This week I made a DLO about a respected leader. The respected leader I chose was Matthew I chose Matthew because  I have known Matthew the longest and because I know how hard he works to be a good role model even though he gets himself into trouble. This task was easy to do but was one of my favourite ones. The photo of him was made this year by him when the whole class made a digital made potrait. This task was fun to do because of how I got to talk about a leader of Panmure Bridge School for 2020.

Tech (Robotics)

This week for Tech at Tamaki College we were doing something different to coding. Mrs Ferguson was telling us how us humans count and how computers count. Then we went outside and got into three groups of four and we had four pieces of paper for each person in our group. I was with Matthew, Pouvi and Giovanni. Mrs Ferguson worte a number on whiteboard and I was the number 8 so if the number was over eight then I had to flip my paper over which had the number 1 on it so it shows how many eights are in that number. Matthew was the four's Giovanni was the two's and Pouvi was the one's. Then we went inside so we could do the work Mrs Ferguson gave to us. We had to write the our name in a code, and then we wrote a coded message.

Blog Post Analysis

L.I To analyse our blog post data to help us set blogging goals.

I used the statistacal information on my blog to help me set goals for 2020. Before I can publish a blog post I need to complete the task. I worked the average number of posts I made for each month and used this data to set a realisitc and acheivable blogging goal.

PBS livestream assembly

During the Covid-19 lockdown we have had Assembly livestreams so we could keep up with whats happening sort of like the news. We had 6 livestreams that we watched. Matthew was the camera man. There was a segment for Mrs Pryde's singing group. Giovanni and Florence the Head Students were talking about what happened through out the week. There was also a segment for Mr Johnston to give messages about the covid-19 stuff. The livestreams werent that long.

Tech

L.I To create a code that makes the Mbot move backwards when my hand is infront of it.

This week for Tech we started by making sure our Mbots were working properly. Then we Tried to make our Mbot move in a straight line but when we put our hand infront of it the Mbot it would move backwards which is like the force. Once we did that we made a copy of a slide that Mrs Ferguson made for us. We took a screen shot of our code to make our Mbot move backwards, and put it on the slide. After that we wrote what the input was and what the output was. Then we took more screen shots and put them on a different slide and wrote what that block was used for in my code.

Cityscape of Sydney Australia

L.I To write a description of my cityscape using prepositions.

On the right side of my cityscape you can see the Sydney Harbour bridge. Not many people know in Sydney Koala’s they have cousins called Drop Bears that look similar to Koala but Drop Bears are more dangerous than Koalas. The tallest Shopping mall in Sydney is the Chifley tower. Sydney is the closest Country to New Zealand. The beautiful Country of Sydney has many tall buildings that stand beside each other. Sydney’s most prominent building is the Sydney tower, the tallest building in Sydney and also the Opera house. Sydney harbour bridge is like New Zealand but the sydney harbour bridge is bigger. We used warm or cool colours for our cityscape to be either on a warm day or cool day, a sun rise or sun set.

Lerna's Hydra

L.I To understand the exponent of a number says how many times to use the number in a multiplication.

This week for  Maths we made a DLO on Lerna's Hydra which was a mythological character. We answered two questions about it's head, and how when one of it's heads get cut off another two grow back. One of the questions were how many heads would the Hydra have in three days. We worked in partners I was with Azatulah. First we practised on a maths site which had a quiz. Then we wrote the questions, the answer and the working out on our book. The Maths this week was fun to complete.
